Southern Colorado wins big at Cross Country Championships

Southern Colorado high schools made their presence felt Saturday at the Norris-Penrose Event Center. Cross Country State Championships were held with multiple winners coming out of the southern half of the state.


Here is a brief recap of the action sorted by classification:

2A Girls: Top finisher was Helen Cross of Nederland. She and the rest of Nederland also took home the team title.

2A Boys: Top finisher was Benjamin Kelley of South Routt. Team winner was Lyons, Rocky Ford came in 3rd for the team scores.

3A Girls: Top finisher was Quinn McConnell of Peak to Peak. They also claimed the team title with TCA coming in 3rd.

3A Boys: Top finisher was Mason Norman of TCA. The Titans also took home the team title.

4A Girls: Top finisher was Elizabeth Constien of Battle Mountain. They took home the team title as well with Palmer Ridge coming in 2nd.

4A Boys: Top finisher was Cole Sprout of Valor Christian. But Palmer Ridge takes home the team title with Air Academy in 5th.

5A Girls: Top finisher was Jenna Fitzsimmons of Mountain Vista. They took home the team title as well with Rampart holding their own in the 8th spot.

5A Boys: Top finisher was Charlie Perry of Monarch. Mountain Vista claimed the team title with Rampart in 3rd.
