Each school year we at KOAA partner up with schools across southern Colorado to deliver a storm safe talk with local students.

On Wednesday, First Alert 5 Meteorologist Jessica Van Meter visited second grade students at Prairie Hills Elementary School in Colorado Springs to talk about the different types of severe weather Southern Colorado experiences and how to stay safe in storms.

The kids were excited to learn about the different weather events our area, and even got to appear live on News 5 at Noon!

For more information or to have First Alert 5 in your classroom, email weather@koaa.com.

For the scientists and artists in your family, download the First Alert 5 Storm Safe coloring book.
