Palmer High School on precautionary lockdown

Four schools in Colorado Springs School District 11 are on precautionary lockdown due to "suspicious activity in the area" according to the district's Twitter account.

Police confirmed to News 5 that a teenager had been shot near Palmer High School and is in serious condition, but is stable.

The district has placed Taylor Elementary School, Palmer High School, North Middle School and Columbia Elementary School on lockdown and the district said that students are safe, but we do not know if the victim of the shooting was a student at one of the schools.

The family of the shooting victim has been notified.

No other information about the shooting has been provided.
