Five teens armed with guns hold up man in Colorado Springs

Posted: Updated:

A Colorado Springs man was held up by five teenagers that all had handguns Tuesday night just before 10 p.m. at the 800 block of Boggs Place.

When the victim ran away that's when shots were fired, luckily the victim got away unharmed.

It's not the first time people have heard gunshots in the neighborhood next to Adams Park which is just southeast of Memorial Park. People there are frustrated especially knowing that five teenagers each had a gun.

People that live near the 800 block of Boggs Place in Colorado Springs are sick of hearing the sound of gunshots like they heard last night. A man was approached by five teenagers near Adams Park, each teen had a gun. One of the teens pointed their gun at the victim's head. That's when the victim took off on foot. He escaped unharmed but shots were fired hitting a parked car and a building.

Sandy Albertson has lived in the neighborhood 41 years and says crime is on the rise, "We've had our good years and our bad years, and it looks like it's starting to go bad again because since the summer there's a lot of gunshots going off in this neighborhood."

Other neighbors I spoke to say the nearby park is the issue, Adams Park only has one light in the middle of the large area and people say you never know what's going on after hours.

After Tuesday's incident where five teenagers somehow got their hands on handguns,

people hope there will be more lights installed and more police patrols in the future.

A long-standing Christmas display has been targeted by vandals.  Grinches set their eyes on human-sized candy canes lining Woodlawn Avenue in Canon City late last week. Several were thrown to the ground leaving them dented, chipped and some even went missing. While most have been put back up, many worry, these Grinches will strike again.
