5 Games to Watch on Friday Football Fever: Week 7

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

Week 7 of the Friday Football Fever is here and so is Grant Meech with a breakdown of our 5 Games to Watch.

PUEBLO WEST @ PINE CREEK: The scheduling gods did well on this one to isolate it on a Thursday. A HUGE match up in 4A as the Cyclones try and remain undefeated taking on the defending 4A Champs in Pine Creek. Both teams had easy wins in week six but that won't come on Thursday night. West is averaging 309 yards rushing this season. Pine Creek had only allowed 45 points through six games this season, giving up 229 a game (from the stats we can gather). This game will be a measuring stick for both teams going forward.

MONTROSE @ RAMPART: Another big time 4A match up for district opener. Rampart made quick work of Littleton last Thursday to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Rams losses have come at the hands of Monarch and Ponderosa, two teams in the top-5 in 4A RPI. Montrose has won three in a row coming into the game on Friday night, both teams will be headed to the post season but the Rams would like a boost in their RPI Standings with a win, currently siting at 19. Look for a lot of Keion Cross as the Rams will hope to run the ball at Montrose all night.

AIR ACADEMY @ WIDEFIELD: Both teams coming off losses last week and both sitting at 4-2 on the year. Right now, both teams high in the RPI standings but a win or a loss changes their standings. Both teams have been surprises of the year in 4A and a win for either will continue their ascension.

PONDEROSA @ SAND CREEK: Currently sitting on top of the rankings but only number four in the RPI, Ponderosa is not playing around in 4A this year. They given up 38 points this season and pitched four shutouts. If the people of Colorado Springs want to see a potential state champion before November, now is you chance.

DOHERTY @ ARAPAHOE: Doherty has a great chance to improve their RPI standings with a road win vs. Arapahoe Friday night. The Spartans are reeling from their loss to Fountain-Fort Carson two weeks ago that would have kept them in the 5A rankings. Spartans need a win on Friday because they'll face Overland and Grandview in the following weeks, both teams with a combined 4 losses on the season.
