EL PASO COUNTY -

After a six-hour standoff at a home in El Paso County Tuesday night, the suspect was taken into custody by the Sheriff's Office.

31-year-old Erik Mattyasovski was arrested just after 10:30 p.m. Earlier in the afternoon, multiple agencies responded to a family disturbance call at 1065 Bowstring Road. Once responders arrived, the situation escalated and the suspect, who was accused of assaulting two people inside the home, barricaded himself in the house.

The SWAT team arrived shortly after and an Everbridge shelter was put in place to notify neighbors within a half mile radius to stay indoors, locking windows and doors.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Mattyasovski, was arrested and accused of killing his brother earlier in the year. He was charged with reckless manslaughter after reportedly practicing "defensive techniques" with his brother with a firearm when the gun went off. He admitted to the shooting and was currently out on bail.

Our News 5 reporter Lena Howland on scene said she heard a loud bang, neighbors say could be an impact of a grenade at the house where suspect was located. Other people inside the home were removed safely and unharmed.

Due to this incident a lockout was administered at Lewis-Palmer High school but was later lifted.

No officers were injured in the incident.
