The man accused of driving drunk and killing an 18-year-old Falcon High School student in April was sentenced Tuesday.

Michael Fay was sentenced to 24 years in prison after taking a plea deal in August. Fay pleaded guilty to Vehicular Homicide on Aug. 17.

State Troopers said they believed Fay was intoxicated when he was driving eastbound on Woodmen Road. Troopers said he tried to turn in front of oncoming traffic at the intersection with Golden Sage Road on April 1 when he hit and killed 18-year-old Michael Finley.

Finley was wearing a seat belt, but did not survive the impact of the crash. Fay was not injured.

Finley was getting ready to graduate from Falcon High School and had been a District 49 student since preschool. He was well-known in the district and involved in several school activities, including student council.
