Family displaced from Security-Widefield home after fire

Posted: Updated:
SECURITY-WIDEFIELD -

A house in Security-Widefield erupted into flames early Tuesday morning leaving a family displaced.

Firefighters responded to the home in the 700 block of Widefield Drive just after 1:30 a.m. Crews were able to put the fire out quickly, and the two men and one woman who were inside were able to escape unharmed.

Investigators are on scene trying to determine what started the fire, but say they are leaning toward the cause being accidental. However, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office says they are treating this as a criminal investigation as a precaution.

The house is most likely a total loss.
