Hurricane Nate makes landfall

LOUISIANA - According to the National Weather Service Hurricane Nate has made landfall near the mouth of the Mississippi River in Southeast Louisiana, and is rapidly approaching on the Mississippi Coast.

The hurricane is being classified as a Category 1 storm with 85 mph winds, and is expected to pass over the Mississippi Coast in the next few hours.

The National Weather Service says the main impacts will be across southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi with damaging winds and flooding. 

The storm is currently about 90 miles southeast of New Orleans. 

The Hurricane Warning has been cancelled and a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Orleans, Southern Tagipahoa, St. Charles, St. John The Baptist, St. Tammany, Upper Jefferson, Upper Plaquemines, and Upper St. Bernard.
