A strong storm on the way

Posted: Updated:

Clear and cool overnight tonight with lows in the 30's and 40's. Sunday will be sunny, breezy during the afternoon and warm with highs in the 60's mountains, 70's and 80's lower elevations.

A strong cold front will blast through eastern Colorado Sunday evening around 8pm in the Springs and 9pm in Pueblo. Wind will get very strong out of the north when the front arrives. Gusts from 40 to 45 mph.

Snow will develop early Monday morning over northern El Paso county and Teller county. Snow and wind will create dangerous travel conditions for the commute Monday morning from northern into Denver, eastern El Paso county and Teller county.

Strong north wind will limit snow accumulation for the Springs and Pueblo.  Moderate amounts of snow possible for northern El Paso county, Teller county, the Wet and Sangre de Cristo mountains.

High temperatures Monday will be more than 40 degrees colder than Sunday. Wind will create very cold wind chills. A hard freeze Monday night into Tuesday morning. It would be a good idea to drain sprinkling systems and swamp cooler on Sunday. Warmer temperatures with sunshine from Wednesday through next Saturday.
