Driver dead in officer involved shooting

The driver of a pick-up truck is dead after a shooting involving a Colorado State Patrol trooper in Jefferson County Friday night.

The driver was reportedly driving recklessly along I-70 and was pulled over just before 9:00 p.m. He was pulled over near the Highway 58 interchange and a shooting ensued after the trooper saw a weapon.

The truck took off, losing control and driving off of the highway. Shots were again fired, according to the trooper.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The trooper was unharmed.

Investigators from the district attorney's office are now reviewing the incident. The driver has not been identified.

    The lawyer representing Holly Dalton filed a notice with the El Paso County last month stating that they plan to sue because deputies reportedly failed to stop another inmate from choking her.

    Joe Pacheco, the contractor at the center of a series of News 5 investigations is sending unhappy customers to his attorney, but the law firm he claims represents him actually wants nothing to do with him.  The Law Office of Christine Pacheco-Moleskin called News 5 Wednesday and said they know contractor Pacheco, but claim he is not one of their clients.
