Pueblo County Courthouse receives Energy Star Award

Posted: Updated:

PUEBLO - The 105-year old Pueblo County Courthouse has received an Energy Star Award. The County started working around eight years ago to make it's buildings more energy efficient.

According to the County some of the improvements have included more insulation, improved electric circuits and thermostats, and motion activated lights. The Courthouse also has a new chiller that makes ice at night when electricity is cheap, which helps with costs during the day.

The Pueblo County Commissioner Terry Hart says the County has saved $66,000 so far this year with the new system.

This is the first County building to earn the Energy Star Award, but the County hopes to have another 30 buildings honored in the future.
