Fourteen people busted for gambling and other crimes at Memorial Park

Police along with the Metro Vice and Narcotics Unit detained fourteen people at Memorial Park Wednesday for a number of issues.

At 4:30 in the afternoon Wednesday 14 people were detained for alcohol violations and gambling in the park. Of that group of fourteen, three people were arrested. Officers found a handgun, crack cocaine, prescription drugs and other drug paraphernalia.

Police say the number of issues at Memorial Park remain low and this was a one time problem, but they will continue to patrol the area frequently.

"We've been doing those types of operations for over the last 20 plus years," said Lt. Howard Black from CSPD, "it's important for us to do it for our community and it also sends a message."

The three people arrested are 37 year-old Christina McConnell, 33 year-old Doran McConnell and 50 year-old Anthony Toney. Pictures have not been released because police are calling this an ongoing investigation.

    The death of a 3-year old girl in Colorado Springs is being investigated as a homicide, Tuesday. Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Ensenada Drive on October 2, 2017 to investigate 3-year old Bella Ritch who had lost consciousness. After being transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
