TABOR Notice books to be mailed to voters

Posted: Updated:

Voters in El Paso County should be on the look out for the Ballot Issue Notice- or blue book- that will start showing up in mailboxes after the weekend.

As always, the notice contains all of the information for each referred measure that proposes to increase taxes or debt for the voting district. This includes the county, the city and school districts. It's also called the TABOR Notice.

Arguments for and against each measure as submitted by citizens in the community are also included.

"I am proud of the work our Elections Department does to compile a notice that is easy to review, and provides voters with additional information on the critical issues facing our county in the upcoming election," says Clerk and Recorder Chuck Broerman. "The TABOR Notice is an effective tool for understanding the fiscal impacts of the referred measures, and citizen input on those measures."

The notices will be mailed out starting on Friday, October 6, as is required by the Colorado Constitution. One notice is sent per household of active registered voters. Most of the issues included will not be on an individual's ballot, as the TABOR Notice is a summary of all the referred measures in El Paso County.

It is also available online right now, click here to view.
