Meteorologist Sam Schreier joins News5 Today

Posted: Updated:

KOAA News5 has officially assigned Meteorologist, Sam Schreier, to the top-rated News5 Today morning team. Schreier, part of the First Alert5 Weather Team since 2016, and will work alongside anchors, Ira Cronin and Brie Groves, Monday through Friday from 4:30 AM to 7:00 AM.

“Sam is a great fit for the morning team,” says KOAA5 News Director, Ryan Hazelwood. “He has an infectious, friendly and energetic personality, which is balanced nicely with a solid science background. Sam loves telling the daily weather and traffic stories, and he’s on top of his game when conditions are at their worst.”

KOAA5 President and General Manager, Evan Pappas adds, “Sam is not new to this market and viewers know they can count on him for clear and concise weather information. It’s obvious that he loves his work and he understands the impact weather has on our lives. His solid forecasting keeps people safe and informed.”

Sam grew up in the corn fields of Iowa, but as a child he spent family vacations in the Rocky Mountains.

Since making Colorado his home, Sam has covered nearly every weather condition possible. From blizzards to tornados, from hail to high winds, Sam has seen it all.

He respects the extremes of Colorado weather, and he appreciates the challenge of forecasting here.

Sam enjoys skiing, running and generally staying fit. But his hot button passion is movies. He loves everything about movies and can talk for hours about directors, casts and scores.

He encourages viewers to reach out to him on Facebook to talk about the latest flicks, and talk about the weather, of course.
