Pueblo County Sheriff's Office warns public of phone scam

PUEBLO - The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a phone scam where callers identify themselves as sheriff's deputies. 

According to a news release the scammers tell individuals they must pay a fine for failing to appear for jury duty. Police say the caller instructs residents to obtain a voucher from Loaf 'N Jug to pay the fine or face arrest.

The Sheriff's Office reiterates that those who do not fulfill a jury duty requirement will never be contacted by phone. The Pueblo County Sheriff, Kirk M. Taylor reminds people the Sheriff's Office does not call the public and ask for payment of warrants or any other financial information.
