Peterson AFB delivers food and water to thousands in Puerto Rico

COLORADO SPRINGS - The U.S. Northern Command, in support of FEMA continues to conduct 24-hour operations working to open ports and roads, restore power, and assist with bringing life-saving commodities into disaster-affected areas.

According to a press release the Joint Force Land Component Command headquarters have assisted FEMA in developing long-term sustainment, while providing direct routes and distribution of commodities for the people of Puerto Rico.

The Department of Defense says they've completed strategic air flights in support of operations to provide food, water, military logistics and communication units. Flights delivering food and water to over 200,000 residents in Puerto Rico are occurring on a daily basis. 

The military active duty response will continue to focus on commodity distribution for those affected by the storm.
