CSPD arrest suspect in local attempted robbery

Posted: Updated:

COLORADO SPRINGS - The Colorado Springs Police arrested a suspect in a local robbery attempt Friday afternoon. According to CSPD a man in his mid 20's entered a MetroPCS store at 2322 E. Platte Ave, where he appeared to have a weapon and demanded cash.

Police say the suspect kept reaching for his waist, but he became distracted during the incident and took a cell phone from one of the witnesses.

The witness allegedly immediately took the phone back from the suspect who then ran out of store's front door. CSPD officers say they flooded the area and located the suspect at a thrift store less than 100 yards from the original robbery attempt.

The suspect was identified as 26-year old Joshua Roddie. Arresting officers say no weapons were found on his person although he did resist arrest when contacted by police.
