Convenience store clerk shot in Colorado Springs

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

A convenience store clerk was shot after what police are calling a "robbery gone bad" in the 200 block of West Fillmore Street in Colorado Springs.

Just before 3:00 a.m. Friday, police say two masked suspects entered the Western Convenience Store near Beacon Street, and at least one of them was armed. While trying to rob the store, there was a fight and one of the suspects shot the clerk in his arm and took off. The clerk was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries.

It's unclear if the suspects actually stole anything from the store. Police believe both suspects are male and are using surveillance video to help in the investigation. Although there have been no arrests, police say there is no threat to the public.
