COLORADO SPRINGS -

The Colorado Springs Police Department has obtained arrest warrants for two juvenile males, following last Friday's shooting across from Doherty High school.

The suspects, whose identities have not been released, are facing attempted murder charges, after one student was shot during an altercation. Investigators say a group of students on their lunch break got into a fight with another group of people in a car. That's when one of the people in the car got out and and fired at least one shot, striking the student. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police are searching for the two suspects, and a third juvenile has been identified as a person of interest.

Doherty Principal Kevin Gardner has released a statement to parents after police released information about the suspects:

"I wanted to take this moment to update you on our campus and ask for your assistance regarding rumor control. You may have heard that the police have issued warrants for the arrest of two suspects connected to the shooting that happened off campus last week. We are working very closely with law enforcement, and believe police will make the appropriate arrests in this case soon. We will continue to have increased police and D11 security presence at the school.  In the meantime, I'd like to ask for your help to put any rumors to rest regarding this situation. As you can imagine, our students have been impacted by this and rumors do not do anyone any good. Also, please keep an eye out for communication from Doherty on our plans to move forward to a modified open campus in the near future."
