Williams intercepts RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors

Posted: Updated:

Colorado State University-Pueblo junior corner Darius Williams (Gilbert, Ariz.) was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday after totaling two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, at New Mexico Highlands University.

Williams totaled two picks, one returned to the house in the ThunderWolves' 56-13 win at New Mexico Highlands. He tied a career-high with eight tackles (three solo) and added a tackle for a loss (-1 yard) with a break-up. His touchdown went for 25 yards and marked the third straight year he has returned a pick for six. Williams' other interception came on a fake field goal and was returned for two yards.

Williams is the second RMAC Defensive Player of the Week this season for the Pack, as senior Josh Croy (DL, Littleton, Colo.) was honored after week 1.

The ThunderWolves rank No. 17 in the latest American Football Coaches Association poll and will host No. 8 Colorado Mesa University Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl. The contest is set as the NCAA Division II Showcase game and will appear on ESPN3.
