Xcel Energy bills lowest in 8 years

Posted: Updated:

DENVER - Excel Energy customers in Colorado should see some changes in price for the 2017 quarter. In a recent release Colorado Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) proposed an increase compared to this summer, but still lower than 2016.

According to Excel Energy electricity bills will be a third lower than 2016, the lowest the company has seen in eight years. Excel Energy also filed it's Gas Cost Adjustment with the CPUC and natural gas bills are expected to increase slightly.

Costs associated with increases or decreases are passed along to customers on a dollar-per-dollar basis, with new rates going into effect on October 1.
