Pueblo fatal shooting suspect faces life without parole

PUEBLO - Pueblo Police Department Homicide Detectives arrested Damen Blake for fatally shooting a man and his pregnant girlfriend in July of 2014. The incident occurred at Sharky's Bar in Pueblo on July 18, 2014.

According to Police Blake shot 23-year old Quincy Coates, and his pregnant girlfriend outside of the bar. The girlfriend did survive, but Coates and the unborn baby both died. 

Court documents say, the suspects girlfriend Ashley Garcia bought the suspect a used gun. Police also discovered that Lazetta Borrego was in communication with Blake about the victims location. 

During an investigation Police recovered text messages and phone calls between Borrego and Blake, Borrego was later arrested. Borrego is in jail on charges of Complicity to Commit First Degree Murder. 

41-year old Gary Brooks was also arrested, as Police believed he had driven Blake to and from the bar on the night of the murder. Blake was previously charged and found guilty for Unlawful Termination of a Pregnancy.

Pueblo Police announced Blake was found guilty of First Degree murder in court today, and will serve life without parole for the murders.
