Alaska Airlines to stop service at the Colorado Springs Airport

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

Starting November 4, 2017 Alaska Airlines will stop service to the Colorado Springs Airport.

In a news release the airline pointed to a pilot shortage as the reason for the discontinuation of service. Alaska Airlines currently has one daily flight to Seattle, WA.

An Alaska Airlines spokesperson stated that, "Unfortunately, these shortages are expected to continue for some time."

Since August of this year, the airline has exited a number of markets because of the pilot shortage.

"While we are disappointed that the Colorado Springs Airport is losing service from Alaska Airlines in November, we are aggressively pursuing other carriers to provide service to Seattle, an important destination for our region," said Greg Phillips, Director of Aviation at the airport.
