Peterson Air Force Base wraps up week long POW/MIA event

Peterson Air Force Base is wrapping up a week of events to honor those who are missing in action or held as prisoners of war.

The culmination of the week is a remembrance ceremony at 3:00 p.m. on Friday September 15 at the Vosler NCO Academy.

The first guest speaker will be retired Army Master Sgt. Ediwn Beck. He is a former gunner with he 106th Infantry Division, 422nd Regiment and was held as a POW during World War II.

Jim Wear will also speak, he is the founder and organizer of the Salute to American Veterans Rally and founder of the POW/MIA recognition ride. Wear is credited with the designation of Highway 67 though Cripple Creek as the POW/MIA memorial Highway by the state of Colorado in 2013.

There will also be a flag raising ceremony, a retreat ceremony and a 24-hour run.
