Pigs euthanized from crash on WB I-70

GLENWOOD SPRINGS - Social media flooded Monday with reports of a crash on WB I-70, where pigs covered the road. Multiple agencies responded to the crash involving a semi full of swine causing major delays.

According to CDOT the incident took hours to clean up, and there were several casualties. A veterinarian from Colorado River Veterinary Services evaluated the injured animals and determined some had to be euthanized. 

CDOT tweeted live video of road crews spraying the pigs with water to cool them down. They also updated to Facebook that all uninjured pigs were moved to trailers to be taken off scene.

The driver was transported to local hospital for injuries, Colorado State Patrol is investigating the incident.
