Carjacking suspect caught in Colorado Springs

A man accused of carjacking someone at knifepoint in Colorado Springs is now jailed on robbery charges.

According to Colorado Springs Police, 22-year-old Dominic Dominguez asked the owner of the car for a ride. However, Dominguez is accused of pulling out a knife during the trip and demanding control of the car.

The driver got away without any injuries as Dominguez got away with the car. 

The victim reported the carjacking from the 5500 block of Airport Road around 6:30 Sunday morning.

Officers were able to track down the stolen 1998 Toyota Camry with Alabama plates on Sunday afternoon.

Details on how Dominguez knows the owner of the car have not been released.
