COLORADO SPRINGS - This year marks the16th anniversary of the tragic September, 11 attacks that shook this country to its core. But no matter the years we never forget, every year events are held honoring the heroes and victims of the tragedy.
Here are just a few events in the Colorado Springs area where you can pay homage to 9/11. Mitchell High School will be hosting a ceremony to mark the anniversary at 1205 Potter Drive at 9 a.m. There will be a special tribute to a 1975 graduate who was a flight attendant on United Airlines Flight 175.
The United States Air Force Academy will be hosting a 9/11 memorial featuring granite slabs, representing the Twin Towers and more. Schriever Air Force Base will be holding their 9/11 remembrance as well.
Both events will honor the thousands of men and woman who died during the attacks, as well as those who gave their lives defending this nation.
The historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo will host a National Day of Service, commemorating September, 11 at 7:58 a.m. Monday.
