COLORADO - Colorado Children's Hospital email system was hacked, possibly releasing health information for 3,400 patient families. A recent statement from the hospital explains that a team member's email was accessed by an unauthorized party.

The hospital secured the affected email account and began an investigation as soon as this was discovered. During the investigation, Children's hospital discovered that some of the emails included patient information such as names, addresses, date of birth, and may have included some clinical information.

According to the release the hospital has no evidence that the emails have been misused and no patient charts or medical records were compromised. However, all affected patient families were notified Friday.

Starting Monday, Sept. 11, anyone who has questions regarding this incident can call 1-888-398-6989, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
