Florence daycare provider sentenced for toddler death

Posted: Updated:

Florence Daycare provider Christine Humphrey will serve a suspended five-day jail sentence and 18 month probation for the death of a nine-month-old boy while in her care.

In April 2016, Rhett Walker was found unresponsive at Humphrey's in-home daycare.

Court documents showed Walker was strangled by the chest strap of the car seat he had been left in.

The State of Colorado pulled 43-year-old Christine Humphrey's child care license in May.

News 5 Investigates searched county records and interviewed parents and found there were problems at this daycare long before the death occurred.
