COLORADO SPRINGS -

Another stormwater project is completed in Colorado Springs near Taylor Elementary School.

Thursday, Aug. 24th students, teachers, neighbors and city staff were on hand to open Arcadia Street, near Shooks Run Creek. This project is one of the stormwater improvements funded by the voter approved Ballot Issue 2 in April.

Engineers said the area has been a flooding and safety problem for decades now adding that improvements will make things better for the entire neighborhood.

"When it rains, this roadway had no conveyance, no curb and gutter, nothing.  It also didn't have a sidewalk, so we've had kids walking up and down this road for many years in the rain, you know in dry times, also when it snows, and that's not a good thing," Richard Mulledy, water resource engineer, said.

There are still 25 projects that the extra money will help fix around the city, for a full list click here. This project came in at around $300,000.
