Customers flock to "Food Truck Tuesdays"

Posted: Updated:

A new program allowing food trucks to operate in downtown Colorado Springs is already seeing plenty of customers in its second week.

The Downtown Partnership launched a new "food truck pod" on the lawn of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum last Tuesday. This Tuesday, hundreds of people came to eat lunch at eight different food trucks, three more than last week.

Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers said he approached the downtown partnership after he saw a similar event in Denver, which was something downtown businesses welcomed.

The city also saw the weekly event as an opportunity to invigorate the area around the museum. On Tuesdays, people use the area to sit down and eat outside. Restaurant-style seating is offered on the former Nosh patio to the north of the park.
