PUEBLO -

The Colorado State University-Pueblo football team is ranked No. 12 in the American Football Coaches Association Preseason Poll, announced by the organization Monday. The ThunderWolves will host No. 16 Colorado School of Mines Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at the Neta & Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference had three teams in the top 25, as Colorado Mesa University came in at No. 24 to join the Pack and Orediggers.

CSU-Pueblo received a vote in the final 2016 AFCA poll and took the biggest jump of the unranked institutions to No. 12. The ThunderWolves have been ranked in the preseason AFCA poll for the last six seasons.

The Pack were also top 25 (8th) in the Street and Smith preseason poll and top 20 (29th) in the College Football America Yearbook poll.

The ThunderWolves were pegged to finish first in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, while Colorado Mines was third in the preseason list. CSU-Pueblo had seven members picked for the Preseason All-RMAC Team.

Season tickets are still on sale, while single game tickets for the ThunderWolves-Orediggers matchup will go on sale beginning Aug. 21.
