Pueblo's Gavin Amella could be next great Colorado golfer

Posted: Updated:
PUEBLO -

If somehow Gavin Amella every got lost, he'd easily be found at the golf course.

For a nine-year-old, between the carts and the ball and grass and dirt and sun; this is his play house.

The Pueblo native has been playing golf since he was two-years-old with plastic clubs. He's moved beyond child's toys now.

Gavin is representing Colorado across the country and junior tournaments, showcasing his skills.

"I like going around the USA playing against kids that are best of the best, " Gavin said. "Number one in their state and their country and I (like to) play in world championships."

He'll represent Colorado again in two weeks when he heads to a US Kid's Tour World Championship at Pinehurst Golf Club in North Carolina.
