BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -

Minnesota State Troopers arrested one of the suspects Monday morning wanted in connection to a homicide and robbery at a Colorado Springs auto shop.

Troopers arrested 59-year-old Derrick Davis around 6:00 a.m. at a Super 8 hotel in Bloomington.  Troopers identified a vehicle in the hotel parking lot a little after midnight Monday morning and staked out his hotel room hours before making the arrest.

Troopers arrested Davis without incident after they called the hotel room and asked him to come out. Two other people who were also in the room were questioned and released.

Davis is accused of being one of two suspects who posed as utility workers and shot two men inside the Full Throttle Auto Service location on Chelton Road last Thursday.

Fifty-year-old George John Maldonado died after the shooting. The other man, whose identity has not yet been released, suffered critical injuries.

CSPD is still looking for the second suspect.

A shortage in construction workers is being felt across the nation and it's hit Colorado Springs hard. While it's no secret the demand is high for housing across the city right now and it's been growing for decades.
