Speed is considered a factor in a crash in eastern Coloardo. The wreck happened at about 4:00 p.m. July 13th, in Sheridan Lake in Kiowa County near the Kansas border. A semi truck and a Dodge Dakota collided on Highway 385 and Highway 96.

The driver of the semi, 31-year-old Jose A. Ruiz Bosch of Allen, Texas was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt. The driver of the Dodge, 61-year-old Jesus M. Bocanegra Villanueva of Holyoke, Colorado.

Colorado State Troopers said the semi hit the Dodge while negotiating a curve in the road. The force of the impact caused the Dodge to fly backwards 160 feet before hitting a shed. Both the driver and the passenger, 59-year-old Maria Alicia Bocanegra, in the Dodge were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

State troopers said the speed of the semi truck is considered a factor in the crash.
