Authorities in Fremont County are searching for a Colorado Springs man last seen on a rafting trip in late June.

The family of 31-year-old Eric Ashby contacted the Fremont County Sheriff's Office on July 8th to report him missing. According to a release, the family was just recently told he was involved in the rafting accident along the Arkansas River on June 28th.

On the date of the accident, authorities got a call to 911 about several people in the water, but 1 person did not make it back to shore. A search party did not find anyone in the area, but conducted a search operation anyway on foot and from the air.

No one else ever called in the incident. According to the Sheriff's Office, Ashby was taking part in a personal rafting trip, not a commercial trip.

Sheriff's deputies were told Ashby was not wearing a life vest or helmet at the time of the accident. A photo of Ashby has not been released.

If you have any information that could help in the search, please call  Detective Jenkins at 719-276-5556 or Fremont County Crimestoppers at 719-275-STOP.
