Father's Day is the most popular boating day of the year at Lake Pueblo

Posted: Updated:

What's the most popular time to go boating at Lake Pueblo? You may think Memorial Day or July 4th, but it's traditionally Father's Day.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife says Father's Day is when Lake Pueblo sees the most boat launches.

There's no early numbers on the amount of launches so far, but the Park Manager says Saturday seemed to be a more popular day this year.

"There's nothing really scientific about it or anything," said Park Manager Monique Mullis, "Obviously through the years my thought is if you ask a dad what he wants to do, if you get to choose anything you want to do, if they've got a boat or fishing gear they want to go boating and fishing."

Parks and Wildlife wants to remind people to make reservations, the days of spontaneous camping may be in the past. This year since the weekend before Memorial Day all 400 campsites have been full on the weekend.
