Suspects in Fort Carson shooting identified

Posted: Updated:

Two suspects arrested in connection with a shooting on Fort Carson Thursday are in custody at Douglas County Jail.

The suspects, identified as Deques Smith and Rashad McCleain, as well as the victim are all U.S. Army personnel.

At this time it's unclear why the suspects are in Douglas County Jail. The suspects' roles in the shooting and charges against them are unknown at this time.

The unidentified victim in the case is still in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Details on the shooting have not been released.

All gates at Fort Carson were closed Thursday afternoon after the shooting near Bad Toelz Road, in the center of the installation.

A shelter in place order was in place for about an hour. Fort Carson clearly stated the incident was not an active shooter situation.
