Protecting plants from freezing

Posted: Updated:

For those of us who already planted our gardens, the snow and cold temperatures could mean trouble for our plants, especially if you live in the higher elevations.

Agricultural experts say there are some ways we can protect our gardens during the cold weather.

For small, tender plants, they suggest using items like buckets or coffee cans to cover them up. The containers will trap heat from the soil and prevent freezing.

To cover larger plants like shrubs and trees, you can use tarps, garbage bags, or plastic sheets. Remember to weigh them down so they don't blow away in the wind.
