COLORADO SPRINGS -

A couple of baby owls at the Lowe's Home Improvement on North Nevada are starting conversations in the garden center.

The owl nest is within a pallet at the very top of a shelving unit. Employees marked the pallet quite clearly with the message "Don't touch owl!!"

Customers who are able to catch a glimpse from the ground floor noted just how surprisingly large the chicks are.

An adult is keeping a close eye on the chicks and all the humans from atop a perch in the rafters.

Owls are known to make a nest wherever they can, including nests made by other birds, or in this case readily supplied by humans.

Owl chicks normally don't attempt to venture out of the nest on foot until they are more than a month old; attempts at flight start around 45 days old.

A shortage in construction workers is being felt across the nation and it's hit Colorado Springs hard. While it's no secret the demand is high for housing across the city right now and it's been growing for decades.
