Colorado Springs Police have confirmed the man shot to death on East Vermijo Avenue is 25-year-old Alton J. Kelly.  They've also arrested 23-year-old DeAndre Vonte Smith for the murder.

Kelly's body was found outside a home in the 800 block of East Vermijo Avenue, just west of Memorial Park, on April 12.

A man who identified himself as Alton's brother told News 5 on the day of the shooting that it was the result of a earlier argument.

Noel King told News 5 that Alton was the father of two children. "It was an altercation I guess that was going on downtown and they felt that they needed to take it upon themselves to take justice or to take matters into their own hands and this is the consequence of individuals taking matters into their own hands."

King says his second brother found his brother's body lying in the alley with a gunshot wound to the head.

"We have an idea of who did it," King said.

A week into the investigation Colorado Springs Police arrested 23- year-old DeAndre Vonte Smith.
