French Air Force demonstration team visits Colorado Springs

Posted: Updated:

The precision aerobatic demonstration team for the French Air Force will be in Colorado Springs on Wednesday for a flyover at the US Air Force Academy.

The Patrouille de France group will bring 10 aircraft for the display to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entry into World War I and a reaffirmation of France's relationship with the United States.

Colorado Springs is the 11th stop on the US schedule for the flight team. They'll visit Peterson AFB for a refueling stop.

According to the Air Force Academy, one of the pilots in the team attended the academy in 2004 as an exchange student. Major Nicolas Lieumont will pilot Alpha Jet Athos Four in the demonstration.

You can watch the display on Academy grounds from the Chapel Wall. The flyover is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

The gates open at 9 a.m. The general public can enter using exit 156 off of I-25.
