COLORADO SPRINGS -

A teenager from Wichita, Kansas has died following a skiing accident in Colorado. According to the family's GoFundMe page, 15-year-old Tess Smith was unresponsive when taken to Children's Hospital in Aurora on Friday.

The family made the decision to donate her organs to help save the lives of up to 8 people in need of a transplant.

Details of how Smith suffered such traumatic injuries have not been released. As of 2:00 p.m., there's no confirmation on where the accident happened.

The latest post on the page seeking donations reads, "We absolutely do not want them to have to carry this burden on top of losing their precious daughter. Please continue to share and donate as the amount that will be needed will continue to rise for medical costs, transportation for Tess and the beautiful services they will be having for her in the coming days. The Smith family sincerely thanks each and every one of you."

Originally the goal was $5,000, which was quickly surpassed. Now the goal is $12,000, which again has already been surpassed.
