More than 60 horses are being held in Fremont County after they were seized in an animal cruelty investigation Friday.

Fremont County Sheriff's Deputies, investigators from the Colorado Humane Society, and Denver Dumb Friends league responded to the 1000 block of L Street, Penrose, after an animal cruelty investigation led to the seizure of 63 horses.

The horse owner, 42-year-old Penny Gingerich of Penrose, cooperated with the investigation and was charged with 64 counts of cruelty to animals.

All of the horses will be held and cared for in a secure facility until disposition of the court.
