More Hayden Pass evacuations lifted

The Hayden Pass Fire, burning in Fremont County near Coaldale, has burned 16,414 acres and is 30 percent contained as of Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.

All structure protection was completed by Saturday night. Full containment could take another six days. About 908 fire personnel are working the fire.

People living in the following areas will be allowed to return to their homes beginning Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. ONLY if they have a pass for reentry.  Passes can be picked up at Cotopaxi High School from 4:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Monday.

  • County Road 1A
  • Eagle Peak Subdivision West of County Road 1A 
  • Mosher Creek area
  • County Road 40
  • Fox Creek subdivision

People evacuated from County Road 6 will be allowed back into their homes beginning Thursday at 8:00 a.m. ONLY if they have a pass for reentry.  Evacuees must register with the Fremont County Sheriff's Office.  Officials will be issuing passes at Cotopaxi High School Tuesday.  Evacuees that can't make it to the school can contact the sheriff's office.

Road Closures: 

  • County Road 1A from Hwy 50 to Hwy 69
  • County Road 39
