The city's final plans to reconstruct Centennial Boulevard were revealed at a meeting Thursday evening. Though Colorado Springs citizens agree the road needs to be rebuilt, not all were happy with the new design presented. The plans to remove the median on stretches of the roadway between Garden of the God's and Fillmore Avenue is a point of contention for those who live in the area. The City said they plant to remove all medians to provide easier access to side roads, but residents say the medians are also a safety measure.
The project is scheduled to start in late July on the section of Centennial closest to Garden of the Gods. It is expected to be completed by the end of next summer.
