"There should be a feeling of horror or unsettledness at the idea that somebody like this can secretly be part of this organization." That's what Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort quoted to TIME on Captain America becoming a double agent for Hydra (terrorist organization resembling Nazis) in Marvel Comics.
This reveal came on following the first issue of Captain America on May 25th, 2016. According to The Verge, Marvel has been planning this change for their character since 2014. This news comes a shock to fans, leaving many to question the story direction of the comic. Marvel execs say this is no "gimmick" and that this will be explored further.
Tom Brevoort was quoted by CNNMoney stating, "This is a bigger story than it seems," Brevoort said. "Hopefully we've got this figured out. If not, you're talking to me on the day I broke Captain America."
