Your Healthy Family: Recent flu season spike

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

While there's no "cookie cutter" flu season, this year is proving to be pretty unique, especially compared to last.
While it started off mild, El Paso County is seeing a spike this month, which is later than normal.
In fact, a quarter of all hospitalizations this season occurred last week (March 6 - March 12).
Experts say we still need to be on alert, and taking precautions.
"Especially with this late presentation, you think well flu season is over, it's not. It looks like it's just starting now," said Phyllis Woods, manager of infection prevention at UCHealth Memorial Hospital.
Woods says make sure to wash your hands frequently, and get your flu shot.
