Your Healthy Family: Two cases of Zika virus in Colorado

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

Two Coloradans are confirmed to have contracted the Zika virus while traveling out of the country.
The State Health Department says both have recovered, but aren't saying where they came down with the virus.
Zika is spreading rapidly in Central and South America and health officials believe we will see more cases here in Colorado in the future.
"I mean we're such a global society now. We're traveling everywhere. That is definitely why they're saying we can expect more cases," said Shannon Rowe with El Paso County Public Health.
The Zika virus is most commonly transmitted by the Aedes species mosquito, which does not live in Colorado.
It can also be sexually transmitted.
